Bunnik Plants B.V. is a Dutch plant grower that struggled to deliver their products on time to the customer, because of changing customer desired. By using the Enterprise Dynamics software package a simulation model was constructed that aided in the decision making process on how to redesign the daily order delivery strategy. With the model both duration and capacity analyses in relation to transportation were performed that resulted in valuable insights on to what extent the current order delivery process could be altered.

The theory of constraints states that every process has a bottleneck and that this bottleneck is the weak link in the process. Determining the weak spot or bottleneck is vital for any company since it influences the maximum throughput of the process. To determine the maximum throughput as a function of various components, Enterprise Dynamics was used to simulate the impact on this constraint in the process. Determining the impact made it possible to change the process to remove the constraint and increase throughput.

The purpose of my research was to investigate if the cleaning process of Asito Transport Aircraft Services B.V. could be improved, and this was done with the following main question:

Can the cleaning process of Asito Transport Aircraft Services B.V. be improved and what would the consequences of these improvements be?

Asito is a large cleaning company in the Netherlands that is spread out over the entire country and has several specializations, including Asito Medical and Asito Transport. Asito Transport Aircraft Services B.V. is a part of Asito Transport and is established at Schiphol Airport, which was also the location of this research study.

The main goal of my research was to provide more insight into how the resources in one of the freight buildings of KLM Cargo could be controlled to improve the efficiency of workload management.

KLM Cargo is the freight division of KLM, the Royal Dutch Airlines. The home base is at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, where this research took place. It has a hub-function, where freight arrives and departs by truck as well as by aircraft. World Port, one of the three freight buildings of the KLM Cargo HUB, handles freight that has to be flown to an intercontinental destination. The research focused on this part of the KLM Cargo HUB.

tudortmund_container_terminalTo support the planning and construction process of a new container terminal, the aim of the research subproject is to build a simulation suite which enables the modeling and simulation of material and information flows in a container terminal.

Aiming for the optimum of each separate department often does not give the optimum result of all departments combined. Technical simulation is one of todays most advanced tools to obtain detailed information on any process. The Enterprise Dynamics Logistics platform introduces technical tools to simulate company's internal material flow, while providing common process elements which can be specified by certain parameters. Recreating a copy of the processes in ED does not only analyze current material flows but contains the possibility to calculate through a variety of alternatives, on which progressive company decisions can be based.

The purpose of my research at the warehouse of Etos (Etos is part of Ahold) was to deliver a dynamic inbound transportation schedule which is flexible for tactical adjustments in the future.

jurgen In this graduation project we had to investigate how to improve the production process to make it more flexible and improve the delivery reliability given that the demand in the market is uncertain and volatile

After careful mathematical research, Industrial Engineering student Loe Schlicher (University of Technology, Eindhoven) chooses simulation and specifically the simulation tool Enterprise Dynamics for his analysis. The delivered report of the project was chosen as the best thesis of 2011 for the bachelor study in Industrial Engineering and Operational Management. This article tells the story of a successful ED-Student.

Beijing University of Posts and TelecommunicationsBeijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) uses ED Educational to meet the requirements of the logistics courses. Students are given data from real world logistics systems and use ED to analyze and optimize the flow.

For years the use of simulation in education environments has been appreciated. Also at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) simulation with ENTERPRISE DYNAMICS (ED) is used in courses.

omsisHardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation – also referred to as emulation – becomes increasingly important to ensure high software quality and short development cycles for complex automation solutions. In the funded research project OMSIS Dresden University of Technology and INCONTROL Simulation Solutions cooperated to strengthen the ENTERPRISE DYNAMICS software for HIL simulation.

transsimINCONTROL Simulation Solutions and the Chair of Transportation Systems and Logistics, University of Dortmund, built the simulation platform ED TransSim which supports the strategic layout planning and the development of operational rules in logistics depots.
Therefore a simulation platform with two independent libraries on different levels of detail was set up: the first one, ED TransSim-Node, for modeling e.g. forwarding agencies and distribution centers; the second, ED TransSim-Net, for modeling logistics networks.
